New Blog Just Starting!

TAIWAN: Welcome to the intro of my new AstroImaging blogger, designed to cover the wondrous worlds of telescopes, equipment, celestial imaging and the techniques needed to coax interesting things from the night sky.

The cover photo shows the Full Moon imaged through clouds with SCT flipped orientation through the Celestron 14-inch f/11 Edge HD telescope using a Celestron f/7 focal reducer and handheld iPhone Xs Max 6-element lens camera.

This was part of an experiment using stacked and unstacked focal reducers and a test of the handheld iPhone camera. Since that time, a Celestron NexYZ was purchased for direct stable mounting of the phone camera.

It's interesting to note the mount will handle the AFOCAL method of astroimaging, which should prove very interesting using the large 2-inch diameter TeleVue 55mm EP vs stacked reducers. The $65.95 NexYZ fits any eyepiece from 35mm to 60mm in diameter including telescopes with 1.25” and 2” eyepieces, spotting scopes, monoculars, and binoculars.
